Clean water for Kyotera village
A protected spring and two rainwater tanks, so 300 families stop walking two hours a day for water that makes their children sick.

Our work
We help in three ways: community programs that change lives for good, direct support to families facing a crisis, and our own team's work in the field. Every program is run with the local community and reported back to the people who fund it.
Programs
Each program starts with a village council, a head teacher or a health worker telling us where the need is, and ends with a visit to see what changed.
School fees, uniforms and supplies for children who would otherwise drop out, and a hot meal on every school day at partner primary schools. Attendance is checked each term.
Education appealsOne-day clinics in villages far from a health centre, with district doctors, nurses and midwives: malaria tests, deworming, antenatal checks and referrals, with the medicines and transport covered.
Health appealsProtected springs, tap stands and rainwater tanks at schools, run by an elected village water committee that keeps the spare parts and collects a small maintenance fee.
Water appealsDrought-tolerant seed, tools and agronomist training for farming families, and food baskets as a bridge for households that have lost a harvest. Part of each harvest is kept as next season's seed.
Food security appealsA roof, a medical bill, a year of school fees or a small stock for a market stall: one-time help organized with a family when it truly changes their situation, with a follow-up visit afterwards.
Family appealsOur team's own work in the field: food baskets and essentials kits for the most vulnerable households, and a visit to every family we support, before and after help arrives.
Updates from the field
Where we work
We work in villages across the districts around Kampala and towards the south, in places that are an hour or more from the nearest paved road, health centre or secondary school. Our team is from these districts and chooses with the village councils where the need is greatest.
We would rather do a few projects well, and visit them often, than spread thinly. Every project on this site is one our team has surveyed in person.
Where your donation goes
Gifts to an appeal fund that appeal. Gifts to the general fund go where they are needed most.
Donations fund the programs listed above, the direct-support appeals on this site and our team's food and essentials deliveries and home visits. Each appeal page shows a budget and the updates posted as the money is spent.
We publish a year-in-review letter every January with a plain-language breakdown of where every dollar landed, and we send our registration documents, annual report and project reports to anyone who asks.
