About the Institute
A little support can change someone's next chapter.
The International Institute for Social Impact brings community programs and family support together in one place in Uganda, helping people find a cause, understand the need and contribute.
Our approach
Start with the person.
Understand the plan.
Behind each appeal is a community or a family asking for practical support. An appeal uses photographs and our team's notes from the field to tell their story, alongside a plain description of what the funds are intended to make possible and a budget.
Before contributing, take time to read the story, review the goal and ask about anything that is unclear. Our team can help with appeal information and contribution questions, and every appeal page shows what has been raised and how it was spent.
We began as a small group of Ugandan social workers, teachers and health workers visiting families in the villages around Kampala. Today the Institute runs programs in education, health, clean water and food security in central and southern Uganda, and still makes the same home visits.
Mission, vision and values
What we stand for
Our mission
To transform lives in Uganda through direct support to families and community programs in education, health, food security and clean water, organized with the communities themselves.
Our vision
Communities where every family has what it needs to move forward: clean water, a meal at school, care when someone is ill and a harvest to count on.
- DignityEvery story is told with the family's permission and in their own words. We never show a face a family has not chosen to share.
- Community-ledVillage councils, head teachers and health workers choose with us where the need is greatest and how a project should run.
- AccountabilityEach appeal has a budget, and each gift is reported back with photos, receipts and a follow-up visit.
- TransparencyOur organization details and documents are available on request, and we answer every question a donor sends us.

Our team in the field
The people at the door
Our field team is Ugandan: social workers, teachers and nurses who grew up in the districts where we work and know the village councils, schools and clinics by name. They are the ones who visit a family, survey a spring with a local technician and sit with a head teacher over the attendance register.
The team delivers food baskets and essentials kits, organizes outreach days with district health workers and visits the families we support at home, before and after help arrives. Everything they see goes into our updates.
