School fees, uniforms and sanitary supplies for 30 girls who would otherwise leave school this year.
In the villages where we work, most girls leave school between 13 and 15. The reasons are practical: the fees are due, there is no uniform, and missing a week every month for lack of sanitary supplies turns into falling behind and then dropping out.
This appeal keeps 30 girls in secondary school for the full year. It covers their fees and exam charges, a uniform and shoes, a year of sanitary supplies and a mentoring circle that meets at the school twice a month with a teacher the girls chose.
The girls are selected with the head teachers and their families. Our team checks attendance each term and publishes the results in our updates; the names and faces of the girls are shared only with their families' permission.
The goal of $15,000 is planned as follows. Receipts and photos are posted in the updates below as the money is spent.
Exercise books, pens, uniforms and shoes for the 30 girls in the Wakiso appeal, handed over at the school with their mothers and the head teacher. Attendance is checked at the end of each term.
